Waitaki Valley Preschool is a not for profit Early Learning Centre. As we are run by a board and owned by the community, our profits go straight back to our children.

What does a Board member do?
Our board work together to “Think and Plan” for our centre. They do this by working in closer partnership with our day-to-day Management Team; the management team are then “Reflect and Act” on behalf of the board.
As a team, we meet ten times a year with a vision of seeing our preschool expand its parent partnerships, make community connections, allow kaiako capabilities to blossom, and offer a stimulating environment for our children. We do this by supporting each other as we work on the the following topics each year:
Strategic and Annual Planning
Policy Decisions
Legal Responsibilities
Financial Planning
Human Resource Management
Future Direction
Strategic Goals for the 2019-20 year
Shape our physical Environment; a focus on it being safe, welcoming, challenging and supportive.
Review our Infant & Toddler Curriculum, and knowledge around Pedagogy of Care
Strengthening Internal Evaluation
It takes a large group of people to effectively operate a community-based early childhood service. It is therefore important that we not only have a team of great staff, but that members of our community join our Board also.
